Marlin Weigh In and Flag The Gulf Titan is an exciting new multi-tournament event that rewards the teams who “show out” in a season of tournament fishing. The idea was dreamed up by fishermen, for fishermen. The concept is rather simple; reward the teams who caught the most, and the biggest. The Gulf Titan is not another tournament that promotes the killing of blue marlin that would not die in an existing tournament already. A handful of tournaments have been selected by a panel of fisherman, unbiased and without personal agenda, to represent the events that will qualify for this event. The selected 8 tournaments are the ones that are currently believed to be the premier events here in the eastern Gulf. We have selected every major tournament from Destin, Florida to Venice, Louisiana to make up the series.

The scoring system is straight forward and simple. Gulf Titan accepts each tournament’s results as final results. There is no separate set of rules for the Gulf Titan to abide by while fishing each tournament. Whatever the said tournament’s rules consist of, are the rules you abide by. Boats will have the option to participate in a release division, a kill division, or both. Blue marlin releases score at 500 points, whites at 75 points, sails and unidentified at 50 points. Blue marlin weights are accepted from the tournament from which the fish was weighed. The base money in each respective division pays to one place (winner take all). There is an optional in each division that will pay 70%/30% to first and second place. The Gulf Titan will recognize the winners at the conclusion of the final event, which is currently the Mobile Big Game Labor Day tournament.

Remember if you are registered in the release division, the Gulf Titan does not verify releases! You must have your releases verified by whichever qualifying event that you are fishing. So even if you know you are not in contention to win release in the tournament that you are fishing, get your releases verified by that tournament so that they will count in the final tally for the Gulf Titan!
